Lucile Best graduated from the prestigious Sorbonne and Ecole du Louvre school in Paris. She is a certified Gemologist, having received her certification from the National Institute of Gemology.

Favorite time period for Vintage Jewelry
Art Déco Jewelry and pieces from the 1970s

Favorite Jewelry Designers
Suzanne Belperron is my favorite jewelry designer. She was an influential French designer from the 1930s, who had a very particular style and never signed her jewelry. René Boivin is another jewelery designer from the Art Déco period that I love. Also, Georges Lenfant who worked for Van Cleef & Arpels in the 1970s.

Must have vintage jewelry piece for any collector
An Art Déco line bracelet (or tennis bracelet) in diamond of color stones is a great piece for any collector. In can be worn in many ways, either alone or stacked for a more dramatic effect

What to consider when buying a piece of Vintage Jewelry
The condition of the jewel and the elements that compose it are the most important. Always ask if there have been any repairs or resizing. Do your research and examine its rarity on the market, its price, and its hallmarks.

Currently on the hunt for
A Suzanne Belperron ring. Every piece by Suzanne Belperron is unique. She worked mostly with precious stones mixing them occasionally with semi-precious stones. Her work is very rare and hard to find.

Value your Fine Jewelry.

Keep Everything
Even if you don’t use them, it’s important to keep all documentation and original packaging of your Fine Jewelry. Keeping original boxes and certificates will only increase the re-sale value of your piece.

Wear with Care
Avoid wearing the same Jewelry every day, as this exposes them to harmful chemicals and pollution. Keep far away from cosmetics, notably perfume and always store jewelry clean in their case.

Clean it, often.
You can clean precious stones at home with a clean toothbrush and a bit of warm soapy water. This is a great tip for keeping stones clean and brilliant. Once a year, take your piece for an Ultrasound (though this is forbidden for Emeralds).

Travel Tips
Decorative and hard stones should be kept far from pools as they are more fragile. Precious stones are more solid and it’s great that they are exposed in moderation to natural elements, such as sun and sea water.
